The battle of Gettysburg began on July 1-3 1863. More solders fought on this war. Also more of them died. General Robert E. Lee fought very hard against General George G. Meade's army. The confederate army forced the Meade army to the cemetery hill. Right there they fought  for a very long time. After the horrible battle finally there was a victory for the Union Army, while the confederate  army lost. The wounded spread out 14 miles long.
