In 1830 the government passed a law called the Indian Removal Act. The government wanted all the land for the settlers. Thousands of Native Americans were forced  to move and  had to give up their homes.

Tribes were sent  to different lands. They were promised by the government  that as long as grass shall grow and rivers run, they would be able to keep this land.  But then the government didn't keep its promise.
