A word from the sponsor DCP/SAFE stands for DeKalb County Partnership for a Safe Active Family Environment. Our goal is to provide information to students that will help them to make good choices when it comes to alcohol, tobacco, and illegal drugs. Our activities are to attend monthly meetings at other DeKalb County High Schools, plan awareness demonstrations, posters, etc. We focus on the following events throughout the year: All American Smoke Out, Violence Prevention, Alcohol Prevention, Seat Belt Safety, Prom, Red Ribbon Week, etc. |

Sponsor The sponsor for DCP/SAFE at Genoa- Kingston High School is Mrs. Riffle. She has been the sponsor at Genoa-Kingston High School for 14 years. She has been with the program for 16 years. She is also one of the teachers at Genoa-Kingston High. She is a wonderful sponsor. |

History Of DCP/SAFE DCP/SAFE originated through a joint effort from NIU's President John La Tourette and the DeKalb School district in December of 1989. A task force aimed at preventing substance abuse grew from this effort. This task force grew into a countywide effort to prevent substance abuse. In 1999, DCP/SAFE broadened its focus to become more inclusive by promoting wellness and healthy life styles for youth, adults, and the community as a whole. Now DCP/SAFE promotes programs that help everyone learn to use Decision Making Skills. The program is dedicated to the reduction of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. |

Mission Of DCP/SAFE The DeKalb County Partnership for a Safe, Active and Family Environment is a community coalition promoting community based prevention, wellness and healthy life styles for youth, adults, and the community as a whole. The Partnership is divided into different Action Groups that have different focuses on community topics. There is a place for everyone at DCP/SAFE. |
