Disability Awareness Month!

What can you do?

Learn about different disabilities and how they affect people differently.

Support the efforts of people with disabilities to lead full lives.

Correct & Challenge stereotypes.

Support local groups working for diverse multicultural institutions.

Participate in all aspects of life.

Why Celebrate It?

To learn more.

To understand the laws set in place for people with disabilities and how they work.

To appreciate the great and small contributions from people with disabilities.

Help improve attitudes and eliminate stereotypes.

To learn to separate people from their disabilities, and their accomplishments are recognized.

To recognize that we are ALL a heartbeat away from becoming disabled through illness or accidents.

More Info:

People with disabilities are 4-10 times more likely to be assaulted, robbed, or attacked than people without disabilities.

39.7% are living in poverty because they don't work.

More than 7 million of use devices to help them with their mobility impairments are being used.
