Physical Education

Courses:
PHYSICAL EDUCATION 1 year - 1 credit 3 1/2 CR. REQUIRED
P.E. includes a variety of individual, dual, and team sports. Effort, participation, dress, conduct, skill, and written tests determine the grade. Three and one-half years are required for graduation.

PERSONAL FITNESS 1 semester. - 1/2 credit
Pre-requisite: “B” average or above in previous semester of Physical Education/Fitness
This semester class is offered as an extension of the regular physical education curriculum. It will provide a unique opportunity to participate in a weight room setting working on each student’s choice of weight programs.


There is also classroom component dealing with areas such as musculoskeletal fitness, nutrition, cardiovascular endurance, speed and agility training, body mechanics and other current health issues. Students must maintain a B average or above to remain in the class. A student will be dropped at semester if the B average or above is not maintained or the student has had more than one no dress. No students may be added or dropped after five days into the semester.

HEALTH EDUCATION 1 semester. - 1/2 credit REQUIRED
Taken in the Freshman year, this health education class is designed to aid a student to understand the facts, concepts and generalizations of mental health, personal health, diseases in our environment, drug/alcohol/tobacco use in our society, and human sexuality and life styles. Students will receive training in Community CPR and standard First Aid.
DRIVERS EDUCATION 1 Quarter (9 weeks) - 1/2 credit REQUIRED
Sophomore level or above only
State Requirement states that you must pass at least 8 classes in the previous 2 semesters to take Dr. Ed..  Classroom/Behind-the-Wheel training. The State of Illinois requires a minimum of 30 hours of classroom instruction and six hours of Behind-the-Wheel. Some of the units of instruction include basic car control, DUI
and driving, basic car maneuvers, handling emergencies, interacting at intersections, and understanding traffic laws.
