Principal's Corner
Welcome to Kingston Elementary School, home of the second and third graders in Genoa Kingston District 424.
At KES, we put students first working with families to helps kids’ social and educational growth. All of our staff strives to implement best practice instruction through the Model Classrooms Project. In addition, classroom teachers in grades K-5 are implementing Guided Reading groups and Making Meaning Comprehension Strategies as a part of balanced literacy.
In addition to academics, we believe that it is important that students develop strong character traits. We are continuing to implement the CHARACTER COUNTS! program focusing on a trait each month such as friendship, trustworthiness and respect. By emphasizing both the academic and social aspects of learning, we support our district mission statement “Preparing students to excel and contribute to their community.”
At Kingston Elementary, we have identified our main three expectations as: Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Caring. All of our rules throughout the building, on the playground, on the bus, and all other settings support the three expectations. We will recognize those students demonstrating the expectations with Cogs Bucks which may be used to purchase items at our quarterly KES Store.
Be sure to check our web-calendar on a regular basis for upcoming events such as parent-teacher conferences, family nights, and class activities.
Also, stay in touch with KES curriculum, activities, and other happenings at Mr. Lekkas’ KES Blog at: http://mrlekkas.blogspot.com/
