Stage Coaches were used in the old west. They were the fastest way to travel  from place to place before there were trains. Besides passengers, they also carried mail, messages, and sometimes carried gold or money. Sometimes, the stage coaches would get robbed. They could travel 5-10 miles per hour. The farther you went the more you had to pay.
