3rd Grade Spring Newsletter
Classes are studying capacity, mass and time. We are also working on explaining our problem solving strategies using specific details and in a written format. Many students have been able to achieve 100% mastery of multiplication and division facts! This is a 3rd grade goal. Please continue to practice these facts at home.
We are currently reviewing the core skills and concepts that we have learned throughout the year. Classes continue to analyze texts to find details that support answers about the texts and write written responses. Students should continue to do their nightly reading minutes.
3rd grade classes have been experiencing the art of writing poems. This is a much different process for them to do. Classes are also working on opinion writing and coming up with reasons to use to persuade others to share their opinions.
- IAR (Illinois Assessment of Readiness): This is new for our third grade students. We will be preparing for the format and content of this test in the weeks to come. Be on the lookout for information regarding snack donations to feed those hungry brains during testing.
- 3rd graders will be heading to Brookfield Zoo as part of their research project on Animal Habitats. We are heading there on Friday, May 10. Permission slips and more information will be coming home as the date gets closer.
