Week of January 27, 2020
Literacy
Students will learn how authors use text features to help readers learn more about a main topic. Please practice these skills with your student while reading together.
Please remember the reading homework is 15 minutes of reading five days a week.
Phonics
This week we will review short u in final consonant blends (cvcc) such as dust, must and duck.
Phonics Words to Practice
Attached is a list of words for the week that apply to the skill we are working on. Keep this list at home to practice reading and spelling these words with your student.
Tricky Words of the Month
These are the tricky words for the month of January. Please practice reading and spelling these words with your student.

Math
We are continuing to work on Topic 7- Extend the Counting Sequence. We are working on counting by 1’s and 10’s to 120, counting on from a number and working on using a 120 chart and number lines. Please have your student return the attached math fact homework with their name on it.
Reminders
Please remember to return the report card envelope. Please be sure your child has a hat and gloves. We have two outside recesses a day. Thank you.
