We are currently engaging in Unit 3, Module B of ReadyGen Reading. After becoming earthquake experts, we are gathering facts and research about volcanoes and tsunamis. Students are making inferences from informational texts, as well as analyzing real-life events through the eyes of characters in historical fiction stories. As a friendly reminder, fourth graders need to stack 10 more book towers (index cards) by March 13th to attend the electronics party.
We are full swing into measurements!!! Converting units of measurement can be such a difficult topic for students, please reinforce what we are learning at home as much as possible. All fourth graders should know their multiplication facts by now. If your child has not mastered these facts, please do flash cards or an online game (Reflex) every night!! In order to participate in our math fact pizza party in May, students must be at 100% in Reflex. Thank you for all your help!
This month in writing students switched gears from opinion writing to informational writing. They will create five-paragraph essays, a brochure, and a news report throughout this module. The topic of these pieces are about natural disasters such as earthquakes, volcanos, and tsunamis. Please make sure your child is completing at least one activity from the spelling menu to practice for the weekly spelling test on Fridays.
