Greetings GKMS Families,
The students have been doing a fantastic job of both in-person and remote learning. The students have been engaging in a new educational format that is new to all of us and continue to impress. Having completed the first week of 2nd quarter I thought it would be a good idea to remind everyone of strategies that will help all students continue to be successful while learning remotely. The classroom expectations for students learning remotely are the same for students learning in-person. Below is a list of suggestions for you to discuss with your student:
Set a regular routine; get up, get dressed, brush your teeth, eat breakfast, etc.
Regular bedtime and wake up time
Find a consistent work space that limits distractions
Sit as you would in class while remote(upright in a seat; Not in Bed)
Use your school issued Chromebook for logging in remotely to classes
Keep camera on during the entire class unless your teacher gives you permission to turn your camera off
Be an active participant
Be prepared(pencil, scratch paper, headphones/earbuds (with microphone if possible)
Stay logged in for the entire class
Eat during your snack time(4th period)
We are all in this together and the staff is here to assist your student in any way they can. If your student is having a difficult time, has questions, needs assistance, or anything else please have them contact their teacher. We understand that this is a challenging time and we will work with you to find solutions. Please contact me with any questions at firstname.lastname@example.org or call me at 815-784-5222.
