GKMS Families,

It is hard to believe, but next Friday will mark the halfway point of Quarter 1.  Progress Reports will be available in your Skyward Family Portal September 16th at 3pm.  Now is the perfect time to discuss what is going well so far and any goals they have going forward; academic, athletic, and/or social.

On Monday, September 12th, GKMS is observing Patriot Day. Age appropriate lessons on 9/11 will be taking place in some of your students' classes.  We are also encouraging students to wear Red, White, and Blue in observance of this day.

Also on Monday, there will be a school-wide assembly organized by our GKMS PBIS Team:  The Matt Wilhelm Show.  The themes of the assembly are “Never Give Up, Bullying Prevention, and Resilience.”  Mr. Wilhelm does an excellent job of engaging the students as he shares this powerful message with them.

Community Impact Club

Interested in taking part in fun activities to help the Genoa Kingston Community like Food Drives or Toy Drives?  Well, you are in luck…Community Impact Club is starting up Thursday September 15 after school until 4 PM.  Students may pick up a permission slip from your homeroom teacher or stop by Mrs. Ewald’s room (room 105) in the 7th grade hallway to pick one up before or after school.  All GKMS students are welcome!

As always, please contact me with any questions at cbutcher@gkschools.org or call me at 815-784-5222.  Please check out the grade level newsletters at the bottom of this message.  Have a Cogtastic Weekend!

Respectfully,

Craig Butcher
