Math:  We continue to practice, learn and understand subtraction.  Give some objects such as pennies to your child.  Ask your child to count 4 pennies to your child.  Ask your child to count 4 pennies and then take 3 away.  Next have them write the equation.  Use 4 new pennies and repeat with 4-2, 4-1, and 4-0.  Write the equations each time.  Ask your child about the pattern that they see.

Social Studies:  We are learning about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his contribution to American Society.  Ask your child to tell you about Martin Luther King.  This topic can be sensitive and difficult for students to understand.  We have been focusing on how Martin Luther King wanted everyone to be respectful, kind, and peaceful.  "I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
