Week of October 26, 2021
Literacy
In ReadyGen we are focusing on characters, setting, and retelling events. Students are also learning the difference between fiction and non-fiction reading material and understanding unknown vocabulary words.
Phonics
This week we will review and apply the sounds we have covered so far this quarter. This week we will practice reading and spelling with these sounds:
Focus: suffix -s and -ing
Review: x,v, y, z, zz, qu, u, r, w, j, k, e
m, s, t, c/k, p, n, a, f, b, g, short i, d,l,ll,h, o
Tricky Words of the Week
We are currently testing students on reading the first 25 fry words. We will move on to quarter two fry words this week. Continue to practice reading, writing, and spelling the focus words this week.
Focus: but, what, not, were, all
Continue to review reading and spelling these words:
we, when, your, can, said, or, one, had, by, words
at, be, this, have, from, the, of, and, a, to,in, is, you, that, it, he, was, for on, are, as, with, his, they, I
Math
We will continue working on math topic 3 which is adding within 20. Our focus math facts this week are +8 and +9.
Reminders
Student school hours are 8:00-2:50 each day.
Please send two snacks to school with your student each day.
Please send your child to school with a spill proof water bottle each day.
Our classrooms can be cool. Please send a sweatshirt with your student.
Temps are getting cooler please send gloves, hants and a warm jacket for outdoor play.
Please continue to check Seesaw throughout the week for messages.
If your child is sick or there is a change of transportation, you must call the office.
Please have your student return the attached homework by next Monday
