Genoa-Kingston High School Auditorium

Come participate in fun theater games, improvisation, acting tips, and more! This four day
camp is for any student in grades 6-12. Come on out for a fun and educational time!

The Genoa-Kingston Drama Department is an extracurricular group that strives to provide educational theater opportunities in both on-stage and technical capacities. The drama department and International Thespian Society Troupe #867 have worked hard to provide a quality theatrical experience for both the students involved in our fall and spring productions as well as for our audience.

Many of our students come into the high school with little more than an interest for the stage. By taking on a wide variety of comedic and dramatic productions, we have cultivated that interest into talent at the high school level and beyond.
Our students have often continued to pursue drama after graduation. GK Drama alumni have acted in college productions and are also involved in local theater groups in Genoa and throughout Northern Illinois.

GK Drama graduates have graced the stage on a professional level on stage and screen throughout Chicagoland as well as across the United States. We have also helped generate interest in theater with younger students by holding a four-day drama clinic for students in grades 6-12.

Since the dawn of the new millennium, GK Drama has put on classic Broadway shows like Joseph Kesserling’s Arsenic And Old Lace and Neil Simon’s Fools, Tony award-winning shows like The Sound Of Music, The Pajama Game, How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, Crazy For You, Hello, Dolly!, Fiddler On The Roof and Seussical.

We have also presented period pieces like Seven Sisters , Strange Boarders and Vacancy In Para-dise, fairy tale whimsy like Disney’s Beauty And The Beast and Cole Porter’s Anything Goes. This past spring, GK Drama presented The Addams Family, a contemporary musical.
On five occasions, GK Drama has had the honor of performing at the Illinois High School Theatre Festival for students across the state. Our most recent appearance was in 2014, when Life Cycles: An Evening of the Extraordinary was selected as a showcase performance.
