winter

As we transition into colder months, we want to address the impacts of inclement weather. The safety and well-being of our students and staff are our top priorities, and we are committed to ensuring a secure and supportive learning environment for all, regardless of the weather conditions.

It is important we are prepared for unfavorable weather that may affect school. While we cannot control the weather, we can certainly plan ahead to minimize disruptions and ensure that our students' education continues as smoothly as possible. The District generally uses NOAA.com to determine weather related decisions.

Here are some important points to keep in mind:

  1. School Closure or Two Hour Delay: In the event of severe weather conditions such as heavy snowfall, icy roads, or extreme cold, we may need to make the decision to close or delay school. Decisions are generally reached and announced by 6:00 AM. However, there are times that decisions must be made later. We will make every effort to alert families in advance if we are considering the possibility of a school closure. This will allow families to make necessary arrangements in case we do need to cancel.

  2. E-Learning: A school day cancellation may generate an E-Learning Day which may include online assignments or packets of material previously sent home, to be completed by students. These days will not happen until after two traditional snow days have occured. For more information, please visit our website - resources tab - inclement weather

  3. Stay Informed: Keep an eye on our school's website, social media channels, email and text messages for the latest updates on inclement weather decisions and other important announcements. Please make sure your information is up to date in Skyward and to opt-in to Mobile Text Notifications

  4. Recess:
Above 32° F with or without wind chill: Recess should be held outdoors.
Between 31° F and 1° F with wind chill: Principal discretion.
At or Below 0° F with wind chill: Recess should be held indoors.
