Genoa, IL - Quincy James was selected to attend as a National Youth Correspondent to the Washington Journalism and Media Conference at George Mason University that was held July 7 to July 12, 2025. This conference is an opportunity for students to develop and encourage future leaders. While there James participated in hands-on learning through decision-making simulations, went on tours around the capitol, met with a Congressmen’s legislative assistant and heard from prominent journalists in the field.
“There's just so much I learned about the world of journalism and media. I also enjoyed a majority of the speakers they brought in as well,” said James. “It was amazing to meet other students from across the country who are just as passionate about journalism as I am.”
James joined a select group of students from different backgrounds all over the country for the program. They shared similar goals to tell stories that matter and make a difference in their communities. James was chosen based on his academic accomplishments and interests in the journalism and media field.
