A garbage can caught fire this morning outside the high school gymnasium. No one was hurt and the fire department quickly arrived on scene and extinguished the fire.
A restoration company is on their way now to address the cleanup and damage.
At this time, all BFS sessions are canceled. More communication will be sent as to when the high school will reopen after the restoration company has addressed the area.

🐾 Shoutout to our amazing GKHS Impact Club! 🐾
These students recently dropped off supplies to support The Barn on Baseline — collecting everything from pet food to paper towels and other supplies. Thanks to their hard work (and your donations!), animals in need are getting the love and care they deserve. 💙🐶🐱
Way to go, Cogs, for making a difference in our community!

Last Thursday, we celebrated the incredible dedication of our staff at our annual Service Awards Breakfast! We honored tour staff who have served our district for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 years — as well as our amazing retirees. Thank you for the years of commitment, care, and impact you've made on our students and community. 💙🧡

It’s a pleasure to recognize Steve Brust, also known as Hard Hat Steve as this years recipient of the Nikki Gudall Volunteer of the Year Award! He has made an outstanding impact on our schools, our athletic program and the community. Please join us in thanking and congratulating Steve. We are incredibly lucky to have you at GK — and we appreciate everything you do for our schools and our athletes!
About the Award: The Nikki Gudall Volunteer of the Year award goes to a person who consistently steps up, gives their time, and makes a difference — not for recognition, but because that is who they are. This award is in memory of Nikki, who had volunteered throughout the district while her children were in school, helping staff and teachers with many tasks. She spent numerous hours organizing the Book Rooms in each of the district’s buildings.

We’re thrilled to share that our Mr. Drews, GKHS and fifth grade band director, was selected by his alma mater to perform at the world-renowned Carnegie Hall! This incredible honor is a testament to his talent and dedication to music. Congratulations on being chosen to take the stage at one of the most prestigious concert venues in the world! Check out the awesome photos he shared and some of the sight seeing he was able to do while performing!
Fun Fact: all of the walls in Carnegie Hall are rounded or bowed to help with acoustics.
