The PBIS HS team held an all school assembly a few weeks back where they played Family Feud! It was upperclassman vs underclassman and the winning team (upperclassman) played the teachers! Some questions that were asked were: What is the best month of the year, which teacher is the loudest and best lunch item sold at GKHS. It was a fun event that also included a Promposal!!

Their water-based demonstrations perfectly tied into our One School, One Book selection — Gooseberry Park and the Master Plan — and left students wide-eyed and inspired!
Every student even went home with a “Super Slurper” — an absorbent polymer that can soak up water and transform into a gel-like substance, holding up to 2,000 times its weight! Now that’s science in action!
Due to the canceled school day on Tuesday, January 21, students last day will be on Wednesday, May 28.

The middle school band and choir traveled to Six Flags Great America for the annual Music in the Parks competition — and they rocked it! The band earned 3rd place and the choir brought home 2nd place, with both groups receiving excellent ratings. Congratulations to all the talented students and their music director, Mr. Lowe, on an amazing performance!

Last Saturday's Jazz Dance was a night to remember! Our incredible high school and middle school jazz groups lit up the stage with high school vocalists, and alongside a talented guest combo group. The music was smooth and the dinner? Delicious!

Integrated Algebra classes at the high school did a competition to see who could build the tallest tower out of spaghetti, tape and string that could hold a marshmallow! Students had to problem solve and think outside of the box to create their towers in groups. The winning group had a tower that was 24 inches tall! They even had a few teachers / staff members try to compete in the challenge as well.
GKHS, AP Human Geography recently embarked on a sensory exploration of chocolate! Students were tasked with examining different brands of chocolate using all of their senses: sight, smell, touch, sound (the snap!), and taste. They then ranked their preferences, providing evidence to support their choices.
This week, they will dive deeper into the chocolate industry, uncovering the company identities of the treats they sampled. Students will explore the global supply chain, sustainability initiatives, and fair trade agreements that shape the chocolate industry.
